What Zoomers Are Doing Now

Love them or hate them, here are some puns (allegedly the 10 first place winners in the International Pun Contest): A vulture boards an airplane, carrying two dead raccoons. The stewardess looks at him and says, "I'm sorry, sir, only one carrion ...

And Blood Still Spills

What is the point of celebrating Remembrance Day when wars are still being fought to bring about Peace? Why are we still sacrificing the youth of our country when so many before them have already made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of peace? Has it worked up to now? Is there anything new we could try instead? Who benefits from warfare? Not families, notcountries invaded, not the evolvement of negotiation or peace making resolution to what divides us. Not our humanity.........

I am the aging child of a twenty-four year old Spitfire pilot shot down to his death over Belgium in WWII. What good was his and our sacrifice and those of his thousands of fellow fallen if sixty five years later we are still using the same methods to settle our tribal differences? What good are diverse religions which urge us to fight for peace in the name of the gods we've created for our own purposes?

Would mothers, daughters. sisters or wives send their children to war if they ran the world?

What if we all agreed to be satisfied with ENOUGH to live on for everyone on the earth? Would it change the disposition to fight so that a few could hold on to the excess they have, disregarding the many who do not even have what they need to survive in health and safety?

REMEMBERING F/O JAMES A. ROBERTSON, RCAF, 1919-1943

Last July 27th, for the fourth time in 40 years, I stood at the solitary Commonwealth grave of my birth father Canadian Flying Officer James Albert Robertson, shot down at 24 years old over Pervijze, West Flanders, Belgium on November 29, 1943. His sacrifice has been unfailingly honoured each year where his remains lie in St. Nicholas Church yard in Pervijze.

My first pilgrimage, at age 26, was in late October 1969, during a tour of Europe, when I made a curious visit to the resting place of my… Continue

It's Me!

Living in Kingston, Ontario at the junction of the St. Lawrence River and Lake Ontario provides me with plenty of opportunities to enjoy activities in and on the water. This first capital of Canada is a comfortable city in which to live with lots of cultural and sports venues available, good shopping and access to Toronto or Ottawa within a few hours. Lifelong learning activities abound via Queens university, St. Lawrence College and a thriving Seniors Association, through which I have increased… Continue

Not to the best of my knowledge Sue. I know my grandpa brought the family to a farm but I think that was Saskatchewan. My folks spent some years in Southern Alberta. I was born here in B.C. but if your Robertson's are like mine, you just never know.

Great to meet you. I hope you enjoy the site. I have posted 3 of the articles I've written for retired and inspired. I'm excited as I'm going to interview the executive director of Arts Can Circle tomorrow. The fourth article will be coming soon. I hope you enjoy them.

Thanks for the info. I never knew about the "close". Now that you explained it, it makes sense. I guess they came up with that as mainly the people walked and they didn't have to account for traffic like today.
Very interesting....bye for now.

Hi Sue,
Yes, I live in Chesley Ontario - just for 5 years now. I came here from Brampton so I don't know that many people and really no one from Tara. Saw a cute house there when I was looking and of course pass through when going to Owen Sound. Bonnie

Hi Sue, thank you for being my friend. We live in Northern B.C. in Prince George. I have one son that lives on Vancouver Island. We were there in the summer, and had a great time. My husband has a sister in Napanee, close to you. We were there this time last year when my husband retired. We toured the East Coast, and loved it. I would like to go again someday. My Robertson's are from The Lower North Shore in Quebec. Our roots are from Samuel Robertson the first, from La Tabatiere. Cheryl
