I'm still not used to roaming around these different groups here but the other day I came across one of the members photo albums...Wayne Bastins & loved his pictures so thought when I came across this interesting story/song of one of the Oak Ridge Boys that the rest of you might also enjoy as well.
I have a lot of music in my life from all different types...from Classical to Country...I even play keyboard & guitar but not as much in the past few years as I used to...I encourage my grandsons tho' with it...some may have saw his pictures last year when I placed them with Zoomers...
Anyway here's the link for you all to enjoy:

No doubt Karen...but you can't hop on to the internet unless you're signed up to & that was my first big problem!!:-)
Then when I did it was like a turtle moving:-) My '98 got me there with more speed...And now it's three behind & only at rest for games for grandkids, non-internet!!
I remember making music from a Commodore 64, pretty neat too...now we have baby grand piano's for doing that. Technology never ends!! It's just what forces you have to watch out for that comes in to you now with it!! It's not like the old days anymore. The days when most parents guided their children in the right directions.
Thanks for the 'tips' on the workings of this site...I have many pictures up on other groups of interest to me...& did many on pioneers to this new land a few years ago.!!

I've been online about as long as Bob apparently. I started with a Commodore 64 and was an active participant in a lot of online groups well before Windows made everything "prettier" if not easier.
Barbara, you can send a private message to anyone on Zoomers, but first you have to make them your "friend".
Anna, if you wrote something in a group or discussion, all your groups or discussions would be listed on your own page, along the left hand side. That would be the best place to look to know where you've been, if you've joined in on the topic.
To me, the best way to know if anyone has responded to something you have written is to "Follow" the groups and discussions you have taken part in. This system will then send you an e-mail telling you that someone has responded. Look for the "Follow" link on this page. If a topic gets too much traffic, you can always "Stop Following" it. For instance, I got 6 e-mail a moment ago from the Gardening group on here. I didn't open all those messages, but deleted all but one of them and just followed the link in that one message in here. If it gets too active though, I'd stop following all together, and just remember to check the group when I'm already in Zoomers doing something else.
Don't be afraid to ask questions. We're a friendly group here.

Thanks Bob...I'll try it...but I must admit I am a very private person & this internet openess has been a problem for me...perhaps I should have been hopped on it years before I ever did or taken some computer courses way back then.
I actually started using a computer many years ago when my first had a price tag of $3,000.00 & only had a 3.1 Window...ROTFL & not enough get & go to even make it up to the internet. :-(
I did a lot of research I was interested in with my English roots from paper files handed down to me to do. I guess you might say perhaps the same as you may be doing...as that was the first place I started at when I did buy a new computer to get me up on the internet highway. It was a rewarding road that got me swiftly along the way rather than waiting for snail mail. However, sometimes life makes turns you least expect to take place, & that's where I sit now...so yes, I do have a voice about a few things I don't like to see, just as I can read into you, that you do too!!

Barbara

Thanks for your vote of confidence. I have been involved with online communication since well before the ease that we now have on the internet when those of us that were around had to use the DOS command line to access the net, and then AOL and other access programs came on the scene. I will always try and help if help is needed, I am a member of a group on Yahoo that consists of people from Merseyside England, who are spread out all over the world. Most of the group are female, probably between 60 and 92 all of whom had very little computer experience. Their skills now are tremendous, because they had a few skilled users to call on to help. Even though it sometimes drove some of us to distraction lol.
BTW if you want my private e mail address go to my page and leave me a message with your e mail address and I will give you mine as I don't come on 50 plus or zoomers every day, but I do check my e mail a couple of times a day.

Gee Anna...I thought I was the only one that had the same problem & I'm certainly not dumb either...I've only allowed a couple ppl to be friends since I rejoined this year...I especially like Bob T. as I feel his presence here as a safety cushion. I'm sure Bob will know what I mean.;-) I only wish some letters could be off-line that are important in our lives...because I'd have plenty to say, especially on this day if other things were spoken of.
My advice to you is just to click on to the link to get back in that first invited you here...If you like swans take a look at my pics...I find them very comforting in my life...

Thanks Karen and Bob T, for your replies...it took me until today to find them!!! Like most things on the computer, I tend to stumble onto them...it's not that I'm dumb...but I find there is too much jumble on these sites, like on Facebook. I hope I stumble back onto this "page" again soon.

Karen summed up a blog extremely well. There are some very interesting ones, but being the internet of course there are abuses, and you will find some that are pushing political or religious objectives that range from viewpoints, to absolute misinformation. As always on the net be on the look out for scams

Anna, a blog is an online journal. Whatever you would right in a diary, or journal, you just do it online and it's called a blog. I have one I started a couple of years ago about my geocaching adventures. I was going to write a journal to keep track of where I'd been and when, but I wanted to add pictures too, so I decided it would be less work to do it online. You can find my blog at www.georambling.blogspot.com
